The Wivenhoe Dam has been built across the Brisbane River about 80 kilometres (50 miles) by road from the centre of Brisbane, the capital of the state of Queensland, Australia. The body of water held behind the dam is called Lake Wivenhoe. The Wivenhoe Power Station is situated between the Splityard Creek Dam and Lake Wivenhoe. The Splityard Creek dam is situated in hills adjacent to Lake Wivenhoe and is about 100 metres above it.

I spent 3yrs as the electrical engineer on the Construction of the Dam 1982-4.Had brilliant memories.There is a lot of electrical work that is sight unseen like a substation beneath the road .Also the underground irrigation in the picnic area has kms of wires. I have a photo of all of us "christening the first electric BBQ. Great job. great people to work with the likes of Jim M, Charlie C, and in the Office Cliff, Ted,and Artur..
